About the role
We are seeking an experienced Assistance Accountant to join our Finance Team at our head office in Mt. Wellington, Auckland. Reporting directly to the Finance Manage this role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the broader business through sound financial processes. Key Responsibilities | You will support the Finance Manager to deliver the following:
- Provide all Financial Accounting for the Trading Company and Properties Company
- Provide accounting, costing, reporting, and analysis for manufacturing operations (One Hamilton based manufacturing plant)
- Work effectively as part of the Finance Team to provide financial support services to the trading business, Functions and Business Managers
- Transaction processing; Journals; Reconciliations; Analysis; Invoice / document coding; Maintain GL and related accounting records including Fixed Assets Registers / records
- Deliver Month End Reporting. Accurate and on time financial information, monthly Financial and Operational Results (General Ledgers; Business / Cost Centre / Function P&Ls; Balance Sheets)
- Manage cash flow and banking arrangements for all companies and bank accounts
- Financial analysis to support business decision making
- Statutory Compliance including Audit, Financial Statements and Taxation
- Assist the Finance Manager in delivering effective financial management for the company
We are ideally looking for someone who has:
- Accounting Qualification / Business Degree and at an advanced stage of working towards CA or CPA. This is essential.
- Minimum of five years’ work experience and practical accounting experience in a large business / organisation. Preferably in a business with inventory, multiple sales / operating locations, consolidations and intercompany interactions.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial management, accounting principles, standards, and processes
- High level of operational and process knowledge
- The ability to work collaboratively
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully with a variety of people
- Attention to detail and accuracy, and an eye for process improvement
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency – Excel, Word, PowerPoint – Excel to an advanced level (Pivot Tables, Lookups)
- Experience with the use and maintenance of ERP accounting systems
