About the Role

We are currently looking for a mechanically minded and safety focused Maintenance Fitter for our Hamilton manufacturing site. Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor , your responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out servicing, repairs and maintenance of plant and equipment in line with scheduled maintenance plans
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime
  • Perform preventative maintenance using sound engineering practices
  • Maintain and repair PE extrusion and associated plant equipment
  • Use the CMMS (MEX) to record work history, labour hours, parts usage, and close out work orders
  • Contribute to maintenance planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and plant efficiency projects
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Carry out fabrication and basic machining as required
  • Work with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Collaborate with production teams to prioritise work and reduce operational downtime
  • Follow safe work practices and actively contribute to a strong safety cultur

To be successful in this role you will be required to possess:

  • Trade qualified Fitting and Turning - desirable
  • 3+ years’ plus experience as a Maintenance Fitter in a similar environment (manufacturing, plastics, FMCG, or heavy industry)
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical maintenance activities including annual shutdowns, breakdowns and preventative maintenance.
  • Welding experience - desirable
  • Computer literate with experience using CMMS systems (MEX preferred)
  • Be hands on and flexible to be on call when needed to attend breakdowns.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Have a current driver’s licence, own transport
  • Forklift licence (advantageous).

Hours of Work: Between 6.00am – 2.30pm  

Location:  The current manufacturing site is based in Te Rapa. We are in the process of transitioning to a new site at Titanium Park, Hamilton Airport. During this period, you will be required to work across both sites.
