Our Christchurch Steel Store is seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to oversee the daily operations and distribution, and drive efficiency, safety and team performance every day. You’ll supervise and motivate a team of operators, support continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a strong culture of accountability and teamwork.
About the Role
- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day warehouse activities in the Steel Store.
- Overseeing the warehouse activities and ensuring compliance with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Be the champion for health and safety, committed to ensuring best and safe practices are upheld
- Orders are distributed in a timely manner to meet deadlines and customer expectations
- Manage inbound/outbound freight to ensure processes are continuously improved and efficient
- Maintain accurate inventory records and resolve discrepancies.
- This role is full-time and permanent, Monday to Friday on day shift.
What You’ll Bring
- 3 years’ minimum experience in leading a warehouse team at a Supervisor level
- Strong leadership, people management and organisation skills
- Sound stock management skills and experience with cycle counts/stocktakes
- High attention to detail and process driven, multitasker with ability to prioritise and flexible when urgent orders come in
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to address issues promptly in a timely manner aligned with company values
- A clean Full NZ driver’s licence with an F-endorsement
- Gantry Crane certification (Unit Standard 3800) is preferable, but not required for the role
- Dynamics365 experience is not essential, but preferable!
- Experience in a similar industry, especially with steel, is preferred
- A passion for safety, quality and operational excellence
- Ability to lead the team to optimal performance in a high-volume and dynamic environment
